Essential Gear Every Road Rider Should Carry

Essential Gear Every Road Rider Should Carry

Whether you’re spinning out for a casual weekend ride or chasing Strava segments, being prepared on the road makes every ride smoother (and safer). Here’s our go-to list of gear every road cyclist should carry.

1. Spare Tube and Tyre Levers
Flats happen. Always carry a spare tube (or two), tyre levers, and know how to use them.

2. Mini Pump or CO₂ Inflator
Choose your style—manual or fast-acting—but don’t leave home without it.

3. Multi-tool
A good multi-tool can tighten a loose bolt, fix a slipped seatpost, or help adjust your gears on the go.

4. ID and Emergency Contact Info
It’s always a good idea to have some form of ID and a phone with emergency numbers easily accessible.

5. Nutrition and Hydration
Pack a water bottle, electrolyte tabs, and a snack like a gel or bar. Even on shorter rides, staying fuelled matters.

6. Lights and Reflective Gear
Be seen. Even during the day, flashing lights front and back improve safety.

7. Cash or Card
For that unexpected coffee stop—or an emergency ride home.

Riding light doesn’t mean riding unprepared. If you need help gearing up, we’ve got everything you need in-store.
